WWW - Pickle Report Week 11
Free throws are fickle when it comes to player evaluation. A roster has to be built to accommodate a high volume low percentage free throw shooter, and this season a sub 80% free throw shooter has not been able to secure fantasy basketballs most coveted prize.
That is until now. Luka has dragged the Mavericks into relevance again taking 27 field goal attempts and 16 free throws per game. He currently has more points on the season than Christian Wood and Spencer Dinwiddie combined, who are somehow supposed to be the number 2 and 3 options.
With the ball in Lukas hand the Mavs are tied for fewest turnovers per game, Luka ran an AST/TO of 5.3 from his season average of 2.5. This was showcased on New Years Eve vs the Spurs, where Luka dropped a 53pt, 9ast, 0 turnover game. His scoring was augmented by posting a full 10 point fg% increase over his season average as well as doubling his block rate. His putrid <70% is even working for him as he has mastered the art of missing free throws and converting resulting in almost 50 ppg on the week.
Traditionally Luka has shined in points leagues but this season he has a dominant 25% (2027 vs 1787) lead over the 2nd ranked player in standard fantasy points.
Lukas' performance is so dominant that even excluding fg% and total points he still managed to beat out Jokics who went 25/25 from the charity stripe.
The best pickles are the ones that go to legendary performances and this week we would like to say "Howdy" to Luka Doncic the week 11 Bread and butter Pick of the Week.
